How to describe your experience

A clear account of your work, not just a list of tools.

Start with problems you actually solved. A company name and job title provide context, but say little about your contribution. Describe the product, your responsibilities, and the outcome.

Instead of saying you worked with Python, explain what you built: an internal API, an event-processing service, or automated reports. Include numbers only when you can explain where they came from.

Choose examples relevant to the role. If the employer needs database experience, describe your own work with queries and data storage. Do not turn the job requirements into a list of skills you do not have.

Leave unknowns unknown. If you did not measure performance gains, do not invent a percentage. A clear explanation of a decision is often more useful than an unsupported number.

Read your résumé aloud before submitting. Could you discuss every sentence in an interview? If not, revise it. A useful résumé starts a conversation you are ready to continue.
